In an area of approximately 600 acres, a marvelous forest was created in 1985 by the Forest Directorate of the Prefecture of Rethymno. The land was granted by the then Community of Kissos. The variety of flora is extensive, both in the species of trees planted (pines, cypresses, acacias, etc.) and in the indigenous species (holly oaks, wild olive trees, and various shrubs and herbs).
